Day 2 proof of life ~ on our second full day here we were unable to go to camp as some violence broke out. Instead Lucy and I got lost trying to find the waterfront.

For those of us who live in a safe country like Canada, we truly have won the lottery. These past few weeks I’ve had the pleasure of ‘adopting’ 2 amazing individuals from Africa. Both have received a coveted scholarship through WUSC where they will be studying at the UofA and automatically have become Permanent Residents. Both come from war torn countries and have been living in a refugee camp of almost 200 000 people for years. Meet Joseph and Claudine. Joseph is originally from South Sudan and Claudine, even though her homeland was Burundi she was born and raised in refugee camps throughout East Africa. They now have such a bright future and truly can teach us how grateful we should all be for growing up in a country where there is peace. #iamcanadian #grateful #welcometocanada #refugeeswelcome #theurbangypsy

Today is World Elephant Day. I feel absolutely privileged to have seen both the African and Asian Elephant in their natural habitat. August 8, 1969 was the day that these two lovebirds tied the knot. 50 years later they still continue to show their love and are cherished by their three daughters and four grandchildren. Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad ~ you two truly make my world go around. ❤️
